Lakbayan Map as of 31.07.12

My home country, the Philippines.

And yes, I’m quite ashamed that out of its 7,107 islands, this is all that I have been and seen.

My Lakbayan grade is D! =’ (

How much of the Philippines have you visited? Find out at Lakbayan!

Alibis. Grew up in Pangasinan, studied in Baguio, then back to Pangasinan after grad to work. Then became an OFW. That lone trip to the Visayas region was to Boracay for a school NatCon. Trips to Manila were mostly for appointments in national government agencies for this and that necessary docs.

Let’s say maybe I just didn’t have the drive to go out more and explore. I was quite OK with my routine then: home-school-work-booze-home. I was a working student until I was taking my MBA. And we were always drinking during free time. Hehe.

Maybe we justified drinking was cheaper than travel. Maybe it was indeed. One bottle of 4×4 gin was only a dollar back then. Add a handful of peanuts and 3 of your friends and u’re set! Then came the powerful Videoke. Wala na. Pamorningan na to. = p

The farthest we can go is Bonuan Beach in Dagupan. With a stopover in Galvan of course for some hot soup to “wash away” some of the drunken dizziness hehehe. We were young. We were happy that way. 🙂

Since becoming an OFW, I have been going home at least once a year but each with only 2 weeks max. duration. And each time has a main target / purpose: To help mom move to new store / house. To process docs with DAR. To physically inspect construction completion / status. And so on and so forth.

I do try to squeeze in a day or two for out of town trips, and usually, one’s always a trip to Baguio, hehehe. It’s now like tradition for me to go with my mom and siblings to Manaoag Church early morning then go up to Baguio for pasyal, pasyal. I just love Baguio… 🙂

However, I would like to see more of my home country. It may not be easy as I’m still far away. But one day I know I’ll be going home to have more time to explore. I believe it’s never too late until it’s too late (Ano raw?). Quoting Mac Arthur, I shall return! 🙂

Meantime, I shall plan and save for my annual 2-3week VLs and strive to make the most out of each. I intend to explore and cover more places than i can drink beer bottles! Just kidding. I’ve been quite sober for some time now. Nagamature naman naman na ng konte maski papaano. hehe.

Nope, I don’t wanna be a stranger in my own country.

I’m looking forward to that day when I’m truly able to say It’s More Fun In The Philippines! 🙂

Note to self: To update at year end. 🙂
