This post is part of a series on Bahrain’s tourist attractions, notable places of interest, and just about everything I love about the island. Bahrain has been home to me since 2007.
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) (Arabic: حلبة البحرين الدولية) is a motorsport venue located in Sakhir, Bahrain. It was opened in 2004 and is used for drag racing, GP2, endurance races and the annual Bahrain Grand Prix. And recently, they’ve added Viva Karting Track. 🙂
You can’t miss its location being a major landmark in Sakhir as well as you’d be driving by it when going to Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park, Al Areen Wildlife Park & Reserve and Al Jazayir (Zallaq) Beach. 🙂
Trivia: The first Bahrain Grand Prix took place on April 4, 2004, making history as the first Formula One Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East. 🙂 Update: Abu Dhabi, UAE now has Yas Marina F1 Race Circuit which was opened and held its first race in 2009.
BIC hosts a number of high profile series, including the FIA Formula One World Championship, the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series (Desert 400), the GP2 Series, GP2 Asia, Chevrolet Lumina Series, Speedcar Series, Thunder Arabia and Radical.

Recently, Viva Karting Track has opened at the BIC and offers a variety of products including “Arrive and Drive” which gives you 15 minutes of exhilarating karting experience. Will do a separate post on that. 🙂
Meanwhile, you may check out their website for more info & plan your next kart race! 🙂 http://bahrain-karting.com/index.asp
