Family Day @ Al Bander Hotel & Resort, Bahrain

This post is part of a series on Bahrain’s tourist attractions, notable places of interest, and just about everything I love about the island. Bahrain has been home to me since 2007.

Al Bander Hotel & Resort is a family friendly 4 star rated hotel & resort located in Sitra, Kingdom of Bahrain. It offers cabanas and chalet accommodations as well as numerous restaurants and cafes, swimming pools (with a pool snack bar),  health club, water sports rentals, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and a marina (yes, luxe yachts galore!).

In April 2010, my second company in Bahrain, Balexco, announced to hold its Annual Family Day celebration in Al Bander Hotel & Resort. That month also marked my almost 1 year stay with the company and 3rd year in Bahrain so I looked forward to the event.

However, I didn’t have any “immediate / blood” family in Bahrain yet that time (my younger brother Yano arrived in July 2010), so I asked if I could bring my “surrogate” family instead.

HR said yes.

And so, Tada!!!

The Thursday Group

Balexco Family Day, 23 Apr 2010 (Clockwise from left: Nabeel, Edvard, Dwight, Buboy, Jinky, Lilai, Jolut, me, Jepp and Kat)

We came in three cars total, Dwight’s, Mike’s and Lilai’s. 🙂

My colleague Kuya Marlon said, “you didn’t say you had so many brothers and sisters!” Hehehe.

we’ve arrived!

Our group arrived around 4pm and headed straight to the pools & beach area.

While my work colleagues are at the Granada Ballroom for the event program, activities and raffle draw, hehehe. Pasaway!

Tambay muna

We explored the lush green surroundings, and just soaked up the view.

Jepp, don’t jump! = p

My favorite part of the resort, this grassy area near the water (just don’t push me into the water, coz i don’t know how to swim lah) 🙂

Jepp volunteered to be the Lifeguard On Duty. Just kidding. He was actually one of the first to jump and frolic in the pool with the boys! 🙂

Lifeguard?!? Pak!

Summer + Pool + Frenships = 100% Fun. 🙂

Buboy by the pool

Mga Isda sa Pool

Yes, all this time we were at the pool while the oldies, I mean my work colleagues are all still in the event program. hehehe

Swim swim…. ^_^

Actually, I didn’t join them in the water, I just watched them with the other ladies from one of the beach beds. (Malay ko baka hanapin / tawagin ako ng mga boss e muka akong basang sisiw kung maligo ako hehehe)

Still at the pool area, dinner set up being prepped at the back, 🙂

Jacuzzi Boys with Katkat

nakasimangot si Lilai = hungry na? 🙂

At last, the frogs, I mean the guys finally came out of the water and joined us for group pics and then changed to dry clothes for the dinner + evening program. 🙂

wacky daw. wacky ba toh? = p

Around this time, the program at the ballroom had ended and the attendees started to roam around the resort and then went to the tables set by the pool area for the dinner + evening program.

We stuck by our beach beds until we queued for the buffet dinner. 🙂

Tara ng pumila sa buffet! Dali! = p

The buffet was a delightful spread of Arab-Indi cuisine and while queuing / eating, there was a band playing Arabian music as well as another raffle draw and was one of the lucky winners.

I got a gift voucher from Kooheji Industrial Safety (one of our PPE suppliers) =  a pair of Caterpillar Hi-cut Boots, woot woot! 🙂

Da Boys vs. Da Buffet Dinner

It was indeed a fun, stress free day spent with colleagues, family and friends.

And all for FREE! Shukran Balexco!

*Regular day entry that time was BHD 15/- (USD 39.75) while overnight rates for chalets and cabanas vary accordingly.
