Boracay Series Part 1: We’re off to Island Paradise!

This post is part of a series on our trip to Boracay in December 2012, during my four-week home leave. This is my second chance to visit this island paradise, while it’s a first time for Buboy. And we were both looking forward to experiencing that indeed, It’s More Fun in The Philippines! :)

Dec 11 (Tue)

6 am took taxi from Cainta to Terminal 3. Manong driver showed us his Superman skills, “maabilidad” lah by taking shortcuts & eskinitas to avoid the early traffic. 🙂

630 am arrive T3, went to check in counter ng Airphil. We didn’t have luggage to drop, so we proceeded to the boarding gates after paying the Terminal Fee for Php 200/-. Not bad, the airport def looked better than NAIA T1, hehe.

Maaliwalas na NAIA T3

Wish ko lang ganitong levels ang T1, hehe

We had almost two hours to kill, and a bit hungry so we chose one of the food stalls and had breakfast.

After gobbling up our meal 🙂 we went to our boarding gate and sat to wait for departure.

815 am depart MNL for KLO.

Up in the air with Airphil

915 am arrive KLO Airport. Took a van to Caticlan Jetty Port.

It was still early and while the other passengers waited for their stuff at the carousel, Buboy and I went out the terminal pass the “van transfer ads”  to look for the commuter vans. THERE WERE MANY, MANY OF THEM outside but we were unable to find the start of the queue, if ever there was. And no one seemed helpful to point out where. Haist.

They were all more eager to offer their “private service.” Haysus, that might work for a bigger group. We were only two and we weren’t in any hurry to go lah.

After a few minutes, we finally agreed to one who offered Php 150/pax going right away with only me and Buboy, and to just pick up passengers at town proper, assuring no long waiting time. No problemo. Yalla!

I knew the fare was supposed to be around Php 100 only but didn’t argue. Pasko naman e. Yaan mo na. And we did leave right away and made only a few quick stops to pick up /drop passengers along the way. Parang Downtown jeep service sa Dagupan LOL.

The trip was about two hours to Caticlan, and we slept most of the time. When we woke up, tada!

1115 am Caticlan Jetty Port. With free WIFI, 🙂

Caticlan Jetty Port

Ngapala, before you can enter the terminal, you have to pay the following:

1) Terminal Fee Php 100/-

2) Environmental Fee Php 75/-

3) Boat Fee Php 25/-

Kaloka diba? I haven’t even set foot in Boracay and yet andami ko ng resibo haha! I don’t remember paying all these during our trip in 2003 (memory gap lah). But seeing naman how litter-free most parts of the island and with the high visibility of police security night and day, So OK fine, acceptable na rin. 🙂

Fees, fees, fees, :)

Fees, fees, fees, 🙂

1130 am. We boarded our boat to the island, and total excitement just kicked in, Yahoo!

Ok, everyone’s updating their FB status / tweeting – We’re off to Boracay! 🙂

Sayang si Mama (kakauwi lang yesterday from the hospital), cannot travel yet kasi baka matagtag hehehe. Pramis, I have a surprise for you on my next home leave, 🙂 🙂 🙂

Boracay, the second time around

Can’t help but smile, that after nine long years, I’m coming back to the Island Paradise. Woot! 🙂
