Yup, it was my birthday last week. But nope, hindi naman sumakto sa Araw ng mga Puso otherwise risking my name to be Valentina – ang babaeng ahasssss… toinks. And so I’m taking a break from my Dec 2012 Vacation Series to give way to my Birthday Series chos! 🙂
I love birthdays. I love celebrating it with family, friends & colleagues. Each celebration, in all sorts of form and style, I believe is one’s way showing of gratitude for the blessing of another year of life…
Prior, I used to celebrate my birthday in several
alcohol-heavy parts during the whole month of February.
I had several groups then (Thursday Group, Work group, Church group, et al) which needed separate events. Mixing would mean total chaos, and massive shortage sa alcohol har har har (recall Feb 2010 & a dozen empty bottles of spirits at 3am).
However, as they say, times do change. Inshallah for the better (Our livers I know are most grateful hehehe)…
Last year, I celebrated my birthday with much, much lesser alcohol (clap clap clap) as when compared to previous years and also for a change, involved lots of travel. Yes, umabot hanggang Pilipinas my fren! 🙂
Part I: Warbler Bahrain night out with my work group (ok, this had alcohol pero konti lang kasi mahal sa bar LOL)
This year, we kick started the celebrations with – Part I: A Morning walk to Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Park.
I was so excited when I woke up that morning. A sunrise walk – this is a miracle during weekends! (As I normally hibernate on the couch with my TV series during weekend mornings hehehe).
I’ve seen the park so-lovely-lit-at-night last time, now I’m looking forward to see it up close during day time. 🙂
However, when we got out, tada!
Fog, fog and more fog! Baguio City levels! 🙂
and stubborn me said, “So what chocnut! Goralets! The sky would clear eventually.” And whispered a little prayer that my allergic rhinitis wouldn’t be triggered anyhow.
So we went on and walked along Al Fateh Highway and through Juffair…
Finally, we reached Hidd bridge for an anticipated full view of sunrise over Hidd Industrial Area – fail. It was still too foggy.
Therefore, next time. Move along kid… 🙂
So we went on again to reach the Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park.
The park definitely looked different at night hehe. If during evening the park was full and alive, this morning it was totally empty except for several morning joggers/walkers.
Also, it looked like there was a grand event the previous night. The stage set up was still there and the crew just started to dismantle A/V stuff, exhibits, tents, red chairs, steel structures stuff and all. Medyo makalat din in some areas and we saw cleaners arriving.
It’s Buboy’s first time to be in the park so we went around to check out areas and the walk serves as exercise na rin, 🙂
We walked towards the Corniche facing Juffair and Manama skyline, borrowed some red chairs (from the event obviously, hehe) and sat to rest for awhile and enjoy the view…..
We stayed there until 10am then decided to get back and yes, by walking ulit (ang kuripot talaga sa taxi noh? hehe)
At dahil nagkape lang kami kanina paggising and it’s almost lunch anyway, we decided to stop by American alley to grab a bite,
American alley is very near the US Navy base and yes, majority ng residents sa Juffair ay Americans that’s why this alley was called such. It has a good number of restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets, bank atms, car rental, spas, salons, et al.
I’ve been craving for pizza and it’s my birthday so I can have what I want lah. Hehehe. So kaliwali carbs for now and let me have those yummy slices, Happy Birthday to me indeed! 🙂
Next on: Happy Birthday Series Part II: The Six-years-in-the-making-meeting. 🙂
