Getting a Tourist Visa for Oman

This post is part of a series of guides on how we secured visas for our travels outside Bahrain and the Philippines. The first one is Getting a Tourist Visa for Qatar, while the second is on Getting a Tourist / Visit / 96 hour Visa for the UAE

Third on this series is how we secured our visas for our amazing trip to Oman during Eid Al Adha holiday in October 2012. 🙂

Oman Tourist VOA, Oct 2012

Oman Tourist VOA, Oct 2012

Among all the GCC countries we’ve been, I would say Oman tops the list for no-fuss visas especially for us GCC Residents. Wagi as in!

These websites are most helpful during my research. Check out Royal Oman Police website as well as Oman Airports Management Company.

Their embassy here in Bahrain is also impressive. They were very clear and prompt to answer to email inquiries. Shukran!

The Royal Oman Police website provides extensive information on Types of Visas, procedures on how to secure the visa, documentary requirements and applicable fees.

Actually the process almost similar with UAE & Qatar (anyhow, same same GCC lah), the main difference / advantage I noticed is that for us GCC residents, the fee is lower at OMR 5/- only for 4 weeks stay and accepts all, if not most, Resident Permit Professions to be entitled to Visa -On-Arrival (VOA). Yay! 🙂

Below information were copied (yes, copied) from the OAMC website for Visa on Arrival:

Visa on Arrivals
Entry Visa Payment:

Arriving passengers who are eligible for Visa on Arrival are able to make visa payments at the Travelex Foreign Exchange bureau located in the immigration arrivals hall, payments can be accepted in most currencies or by credit card, an automatic receipt will be issued to the traveller this receipt is then presented at the immigration desk, this reduces the time and queues for processing.

Passengers with entry visas deposited at the airport, should collect their visa from the Oman Air Visa Collection Counter.

Of course, if you are not entitled to VOA, then you have to go through similar procedure to secure a sponsored visa.

From the ROP website:

Issuing this type of visa Department of Passports and Residence, or one of its branches in region areas at the request of a local sponsor, (one of the tourist companies or offices or hotels licensed for the same) and in the following manner:

Hence to verify if you may be entitled to VOA, search for and contact the nearest Oman Embassy near you.

Call and ask for the proper email to send your inquiry for VOA with your supporting documents attachments (passport copy, CPR / Iqama / National ID, foreign Resident Permit if any, et al).

Oman was such a sweet, sweet nature escape and the the three days we spent there definitely was not enough. I am so looking forward when we can return to trek the mount ains, swim in wadis, or even just gaze and appreciate all of nature’s breathtaking beauty.

Go and experience Oman. 🙂
