SEA Series Part 5: Sawasdee Bangkok!

This post is part of a series on my 16-day Mainland South East Asian trip with college buddies across Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam.

I have been looking forward to a trip with my college best friends since we graduated in 2005. Hence I was so elated when two of them were able to join me. It was like college once again, minus the Departmental Exams. 🙂

Sawasdee Bangkok!

Sawasdee Bangkok!

Good Morning ulit Bangkok!
It’s Day 7 of this epic trip and yes, my 3rd entry in Bangkok (coming 1st from Mumbai, 2nd from Laos, and 3rd from Myanmar). Andami ng BKK entry at exit stamps ng passport ko Ate Charo, hehe.

Pero kung yung nauna kong dalawang entry ay parehong transit lang, this time e gagala na talaga dine sa Bangkok.

Recharged from my restful sleep last night, I headed to Suvarnabhumi Airport to meet my BFFs arriving from Clark. Sawasdee McDo & Juds! 🙂

Wasted no time and took the Airport link to Paya Thai.

Pagbaba namin sa overpass e may nakita kaming local na foodcourt (Thai karinderya). Sugod mga kapatid! 35 baht for a filling lunch meal, washed down with 10 baht cold coco juice. Solb!
Dahil busog na, e antok na. Joke. Next agenda was to find our hostel near Khao San Road. We took a cab and paid 69 baht. Ok na, tatlo naman kami + 2 backpacks & Jud’s luggage. Oo, naka OFW-ang-peg luggage si Juds.Didn’t get the memo to pack light lols.
NB: We teased her throughout our trip on bringing a huge purple luggage samantalang naka backpack lang kami ni McDo. Turns out her luggage came handy on our last leg of the trip and about to depart for Manila. Read: pasalubongs galore. Hehe.
2pm.
We had some peace and quiet ( and freezing temps as bonus, hehe) in Sawasdee Guesthouse.
Rested a bit and then we headed out agad for sightseeing. Sayang ang Day 1 sa BKK lah. Yalla, sulitin! 🙂
4pm. Aided with a local map, we headed to the nearest ferry station for Chao Praya River Cruise. Actually pampasahero sinakyan namin na ferry, pero same same na ring cruise lah.

We walked pass Siam Paragon papuntang Pratunam, and shopped until closing time.
Pagbalik, we had dinner sa isa sa mga sidewalk grill eateries,
then too full to walk up to take the metro, we took a cab pauwi sa guesthouse.
Dropped our stuff and rested a bit.
Then we contemplated, matutulog na ba tayo o naiisip nyo ba ang naiisip ko?
Yalla Khao San! 🙂
