As usual, ako’y nagpapasalamat sa promo fares ng Jet Airways, Tiger Airways, Air Asia, PAL Express, Cebu Pacific at cheap accomodations via Agoda, which made all these travels possible (2 home leaves ulet, woot!) without breaking the bank. 🙂

Up in the Air: DXB-MNL via Cebu Pacific

Salamat sa Piso Fare Cebu Pac! I admit I had second thoughts that this trip would push through, but it did! Of course it lacked features avail with full service flights like free food and entertainment monitor but I knew this beforehand so I brought light snacks, drinks  and had my laptop to watch a movie before I fell asleep.

The trip was smooth and lucky to have 3 seats to my self, I stretched horizontally and slept well. Maya maya lang, lalapag na pala sa Manila. Great job Cebu Pac! Kitakits sa pagbalik sa January, 🙂

The Dubai Metro

I don’t know why, while I’m willing to shell out for airfare to get somewhere, once I arrive, I dread taking a cab. I think I’ve had trauma from all the broken / jumpy /magical taxi meter experiences in Manila (sad but true). That, or I’m just simply “kuripot” on road transport (selective stinginess echos). Yes, I prefer to walk and find my way armed with a map. Dora the explorer complete with backpack lang ang peg! 🙂

This worked for me most of the time, but not so convenient during high summer in the Middle East. You may be brave enough for a few minutes but after that you will eventually melt, get dizzy and faint dramatically. Hehehe. No kidding.

Thank God for Metro trains. 🙂

Metro station looking like a spaceship.. 🙂

The Dubai Metro (in Arabic: مترو دبي) is a driverless, fully automated metro rail network in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai. The Red Line and Green Line are operational, with three further lines planned. These first two lines run underground in the city centre and on elevated viaducts elsewhere (elevated railway). All trains and stations are air conditioned with platform edge doors to make this possible.

Up in the Air with Emirates

Emirates (Arabic: طَيَران الإمارات‎ DMG: Ṭayarān al-Imārāt) is an airline based at Dubai International Airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It is the largest airline in the Middle East, operating over 2,500 flights per week, from its hub at Terminal 3, to 122 cities in 72 countries across six continents. The company also operates four of the world’s ten longest non-stop commercial flights from Dubai to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and Houston.

Fly Emirates 🙂

At The Top, Burj Khalifa

During a weekend seminar in Dubai In Feb 2012, we managed to “escape” to have our lunch somewhere. Where else? At The Top, Burj Khalifa. 🙂

Way Up, to the Top!

I recall spending 3 weeks in Dubai in the summer of 2009, walking along Dubai Mall’s promenade waiting for the Dancing Fountain show… Burj Khalifa (called Burj Dubai then) was still under construction that time and I made a silent vow to return and see it after its completion. And this was it pancit!

Out and About: Dubai

While waiting for my new Bahrain work visa in June 2009, I stayed in Dubai instead of going home (Philippines) thinking the visa process will take only a week or so. Turned out to be three weeks!

@ Dubai Mall Aquarium

It was good to have friends and former classmates who alternately accompanied me everywhere. There were also some days that everyone was on duty, so armed with a map, I went out myself for some sightseeing. But since it was summer, most of my trips were to indoor places. I think I covered most of the Malls in Dubai, hehehe.
