SEA Series Part 10: Enchanting Mui Ne

This post is part of a series on my 16-day Mainland South East Asian trip with college buddies across Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam.

I have been looking forward to a trip with my college best friends since we graduated in 2005. Hence I was so elated when two of them were able to join me. It was like college once again, minus the Departmental Exams. 🙂

Al Dar Islands – Bahrain Summer 2014

We couldn’t resist when our friends Ella and Richard invited us to a weekend getaway in Al Dar Islands.

It’s Buboy & I’s 3rd time to be in the islands. We were here Nov 2011 for Nature and I overnight camping trip with the Thursday Group and then Feb 2013 with Buboy as part of my Birthday getaway series. 🙂

Sun, Sea and Sand @ Amwaj Islands

This post is part of a series on Bahrain’s tourist attractions, notable places of interest, and just about everything I love about the island. Bahrain has been home to me since May 2007.

Amwaj Islands (Arabic: جزر أمواج‎; translated: Juzur Amwaj) is a group of manmade islands located at the northeast of Bahrain, near the coast of Muharraq Island. The islands consist of residential and commercial areas as well as a marina which also hosts boat shows and exhibitions.

While it’s not exactly a public beach, crowds flock on some of the open parts especially during weekends for barbecue picnics, swimming, various water activities (jet skis, kite surfing) or simply laze by the beach.

Juzur Amwaj

We celebrated last Easter with family and friends hosted by USN Capt. Richardsson and Ma’am Rita at their lovely beachfront home in Amwaj. It was a fun filled day with yummy food and team building games where everyone eagerly participated.

Juzur Ḩawār

This post is part of a series on Bahrain’s tourist attractions, notable places of interest, and just about everything I love about the island. Bahrain has been home to me since 2007.

Summer in Bahrain can really be scorching hot, but it’s no excuse to just turn up the AC and watch TV. Yes, there’s another list of great indoor stuff we can do, but what about the beach? And just what are sunscreens made for? 🙂

So one weekend in June 2010, everybody (well, almost) packed their bags and headed to Hawar….:)

Juzur Hawar main island

The Hawar Islands (Arabic: جزر حوار‎; translated: Juzur Ḩawār) are a group of islands situated off the west coast of Qatar in the Gulf of Bahrain of the Persian Gulf. It is also a Ramsar site.

Al Dar Islands, Bahrain

This post is part of a series on Bahrain’s tourist attractions, notable places of interest, and just about everything I love about the island. Bahrain has been home to me since 2007.

Lovely Sunset @ Sitra Fisherman’s Port

Al Dar, a cluster of small islands off Bahrain’s main land, for me, is one of the best beach spots in Bahrain, and is reachable by just a short boat trip from the Sitra Fisherman’s port.  Day entry costs Bhd5 which includes the boat trip. Normal operations are from 9am-5pm daily except for special overnight events.

Several lovely beach chalets are lined up on the northern island and recently, they added open top beach huts great for sunbathing, and during the evenings, for stargazing, = )

There are also various facilities including mini sheds, beach beds, hammocks, a decent snack bar and numerous water sports activities.

Our group signed up for the Nature & I event during 04-05 November 2011, and was packed with activities like Bonfire barbecue dinner, Overnight camp by the beach, Sunrise breakfast, Fishing trip/dolphin sighting, Snorkeling @ Magsoos Wreck and Pearl Oyster Diving.
